Seriously, when helium and oxygen molecules are mixed, does the helium separate from the oxygen? The mechanical engineers couldn't figure it out. I thought the helium would rise, but some thought that the molecules would remain diffuse.

I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation that has to do with peevnert (PV = nRT) but I’m no good with numbers so I’ll just wing it.
If I had to guess, at room temperature and in a fairly large/non-ideal container, helium would be mixing it up with all the other molecules. In my experience, helium is a troublemaker. Whenever I breath it in it shrinks my junk and I can tell because it makes my voice higher.
